Which Social Networks are Right for Your Business? Part Two: "The Overlooked"

Overlooked Social Networks

Here's a few social networks that may seem obvious, but are often overlooked as very useful for attracting organic website traffic - and sometimes leads.

LinkedIn

An obvious choice to professionals looking for contacts, but not always an obvious resource to businesses. LinkedIn is a powerful and expansive social network focused primarily on brands, the people that work for them and what they do. LinkedIn offers advertising options and is a great resource for finding talent.

Tumblr

Think of Tumblr as an extension of your actual blog or news feed. It's still not great for SEO purposes, in terms of ranking high in search results, but what it lacks there it makes up for in being a hugely active and self-contained social network and search engine. The primary functions of Tumblr is to publish, follow and share content.

This all sounds about the same as any social network, but when you realize that it can serve as a hub to all of your other social networks and blogs and feeds, etc, it becomes hugely useful. Also, it's a great place to advertise through content in a very conversational way.
