Which Social Networks Are Right For Your Business? Part Three: "Photo & Video Networks"

Video Based Social Networks

There's plenty of ways out there to share your brand-related photos or videos. Here's some of the most popular ones. What experiences has your brand had with using any of these for content marketing? Are you interested in trying out any photo or video based content marketing? Drop us a line or comment on our social media and let us know!

Vine

You have 6 seconds to do something amazing. If you can't do that with a series of 6-second videos, stay far away. Demographic here is young, hip and so 'over' everything that is 'lame'. That being said, if you can tell a message relevant to your brand in a series of 6-second clips that are meant to be informative and embedded on a website page rather than be shared by hip milennials, then go for it. Also, pre-produced Videos can now be uploaded to Vine.

Instagram

Same as above, but you have 15 seconds. You can also pre-produce videos and upload them on Instagram. Great for promotions and non-paid advertisements. A great way to use short video clips like this can be for short tutorials or how-to's, team member intro's and more. Get creative!

YouTube

The biggest takeaway to remember about YouTube is that it serves as an alternative to television for almost an entire generation. Content here must follow a format that is clearly defined by some of the most popular 'internet famous' YouTube celebrities. Production value has to be top-notch and interesting or else it's just going to get overlooked. Oh, and it's pretty much the default video hosting service for all the internet with self-hosting as an alternative. So unless you have a 1080p or 4K HD video that has to be on Vimeo for some reason, you're better off using YouTube.

1 Terabyte of free storage. Enough said.

Instagram

It's easy to use, fun to use and easily accessible. Ads are not available yet for everyone, but the social network is testing the waters with major corporate brands and will likely make it available to anyone after the kinks have been worked out. Also, Hipster filter all the things.

Pinterest

Important for any business with a tangible product or any product or service where a large part of the customer experience is a visual decision making process, Promoted Pin advertising is available. Pinterest is one of the few social networks where the primary demographic is clear across the board: It's mostly used by Women.
