Get With the Programmer: FAQs
FAQs
How user-friendly is your website?
Often times, 360 PSG will create a custom application or add a new component (like news, testimonials, or events submission for example) for a brand new or existing website to make it more functional. But once the site is launched, visitors may not be sure how to use it. If a user cannot use or navigate the functional areas of your website or application, they may not stick around. Here are a few tips on how you can help your visitors navigate your site more easily.
Here's how:
How can you help your users with your components? You've been trained on how to use the Fission CMS and/or your custom app, so why not create a short document with some of the "How To's" that could be useful to your visitors?
Start keeping a list of inquiries you get via phone or email, create a resource page where visitors can go to find answers to their questions. Then, once a week or however often you can, post the questions with your answers on your FAQs page. Before you know it, you'll have more time to concentrate on your business or organization instead of answering support calls or writing long support emails.
How do I set up an FAQ page?
It's easy; log into the backend of your site. Create a new page. Call it something like "FAQs" or "Questions" or "Help."
Make it easy to find. Add it to your menu, add it as a sub-menu item under "Contact," or create a prominent link somewhere on your homepage where visitors are likely to see it.
Next, add the questions that you deem most helpful. Post some short answers to help your viewers.
Congratulations, you've just made your website more user-friendly.
If you'd like to take it one step further, you can turn on the Fission Message Board component to allow visitors to post their own question and answers right on your site. You'll still have the ability to monitor inquiries and responses as you see fit, but you can let your users do the work for you.
Creating an FAQ page is helpful to visitors and it's something that you can do yourself in the Fission CMS.
