Facebook announced that they have successfully reached the 300 million user mark, nearly equaling the entire population of the United States.

Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, announced via blog last Tuesday that his social network had reached the 300 million mark. "It's a large number, but the way we think about this is that we're just getting started on our goal of connecting everyone," Zuckerberg wrote.

It may come as little surprise that Facebook is the largest social network on the planet however their growth in 2009 alone may raise a few eyebrows.

In January Zuckerberg announced on his blog that Facebook had reached the 150 million user plateau just two months after reaching 120 million.

With the new milestone reached, Zuckerberg has also announced big financial news for Facebook declaring that the social network was cash flow positive as of last quarter.
