Overview
Hospice Buffalo, Western New York's community based healthcare organization is dedicated to the care and support of individuals with a serious or end of life illness. They originally worked with 360PSG in 2006 and have gone through multiple custom applications and design enhancements since then.
This year, Hospice Buffalo kicked-off a new branding campaign. The organization turned to 360PSG for a website redesign that would match the "look and feel" of their new identity, branding, and television commercials. Since their site was built on the Fission Web System they were able to accomplish this without starting from scratch or losing any of the work that has been developed over the past 5 years.
Hospice's website had not seen a significant design change since 2009, and never one of this magnitude during their time with 360 PSG.
Process
Similar to the initial kickoff meeting back in 2006, the process for a redesign started with a consultation meeting where 360's artists could get a good idea of the new direction Hospice Buffalo was taking in their marketing endeavors.
While the new design was being produced behind the scenes, the current look of the site remained untouched. Once the initial mocks were approved, new templates were programmed behind the scenes, hidden until the new site was ready for unveiling.
After private test pages are created on the live site, the new look is officially approved and ready for the public. Only then is the new design "activated". All existing pages, modules, pictures, content and other custom applications are left intact. The new look is essentially placed over the existing content and functionality like a "skin," allowing the website to function as it had, with a brand new appearance.
Solution
Because the site was developed on the Fission Content Management System, the graphic designers at 360PSG were able to deliver a relatively simple, inexpensive and timely overhaul of a very large website in a matter of weeks. There was no downtime and the website and it's viewers suffer no inconvenience.
The result of Hospice Buffalo's most recent collaboration with 360 PSG is a stunning new website that aptly reflects the organizations vision for the future.
Future
As web technology and trends constantly change the need to stay current will always affect a website's design and how it is received by the public. It is important to plan for this life cycle. A
full re-design is recommended every 2-3 years, in order to keep a site fresh
and interesting for it's target audience.
Because the Fission platform allows for seamless website redesign and lossless scalability you can plan easily, knowing the money, time and hard work that you've put into your online presence will not go to waste. Hospice Buffalo's next major update with 360PSG will be just as quick and painless as the last.
