What do you think about your new site, how does it operate on the Fission CMS, and how has it helped Niagara Lutheran?
We're very pleased with it. As a matter of fact, David McMullen, Director of Development and Marketing for Niagara Lutheran, said, "Be sure to tell them that it was a lot less complicated than I thought it was going to be."
So far it's been working. It was pretty easy. Things got done quickly. Now that I'm doing it, it's actually kind of fun. We've gotten some good feedback. We haven't promoted it a whole lot yet, we're in the process of doing that. But I have seen the numbers go up on the stats quite significantly since we updated it.
You said it was easier than you thought it was going to be. Were you referring to the process of getting your site converted over to the system or actually using the system?
The whole thing.
Why did you come to 360 PSG?
Basically, we came to 360 PSG because we were having so much trouble getting our site updated using other resources. And then after we worked together and got it where we wanted it that's when we learned more about the Fission CMS. We didn't make the switch just because of the Fission CMS because we really didn't think we'd have the time to do it. But after we learned more about it, about the simplicity, and that it probably wouldn't take so much time to do it, that's when we switched over. Plus we had a full-time person doing it at that time, but I'm finding doing it even part time it's not that bad at all. Once you get the hang of it. There's a learning curve, just like any kind of software.
It's great because you can see it instantaneously. It works fast. You don't have to put it up if you're not happy with it.
Would you say that the Fission CMS has made you more efficient?
Yes. And we don't have that lag time between having you guys do it after we ask for changes, making sure you get the correct information, or if there's a little something that we want to change real quick, there's no lag time. We just do it immediately. We're able to put up all of our concert series in no time.
And the news events. It's so much easier to keep it updated if we're doing it ourselves.
Now that you can update your site more often and more easily internally, how do you think that's going to appeal to potential visitors?
Much more because everything we had previously was a little more dated. We have events going on so I'm able to keep those up to date. Like I said we have a concert series going on, and this was the first year that I was able to post it and we've been doing this for 10 years.
Staying current is important. Especially with the calendar. I don't put up all the activities calendars, but I do put up major things like our Humanitarian Award dinner, the concerts are on the calendar and it's now a source of current information for people. And we do get a lot of people who look because a lot of our residents' families live out of state or people whose relatives live here that are considering different places, they're the ones who check us out on the web.
What were you looking for when you came to 360 PSG?
We had been working with somebody else, a lot smaller organization, and we were finding it very very difficult. We were on our third revision with them, and by then it had gotten a little convoluded but we knew exactly where we wanted it but we were having a terrible time. Things just weren't getting done and they were getting all mixed up, information was on the wrong pages and everything. We heard about 360 PSG through consultant and we thought we'd give you guys a try. I used to have to sit down with the guy and go through page by page. We went with you and it was like okay fine, no problem. The right photos ended up on the right pages.
Would you recommend 360 PSG and the Fission CMS to other people?
Definitely. It made things a whole lot easier for us. I have to say that everybody that I've worked with over there too has been nice and responsive and absolutely no problems.
If there was one thing in the entire process that you HAD to change, what would that be?
Nothing. We didn't have any glitches. Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be doing well.
Do you have anything else to add?
We switched our emails over too and that went very very smoothly. We've had no complaints.
We decided that we wanted to blog. We're trying to do more of the networking things with Facebook and I wanted to blog. So I called and I got ahold of Bryan and it was up within a week. It looks really nice. I called Jillian and she walked me through it, and I'm very comfortable giving her a call if I try to do something and can't figure it out.
